The usual application of sliding gates and traffic barriers is to secure the main vehicle entrance, overcoming the problems sometimes created by the large swing space required by hinged gates to protect the same opening. KDS trackless gate systems are designed to slide independent of the road surface ensuring operation even in wintry conditions of ice and snow or surface debris. The gates are typically constructed from heavy rolled section, hollow section forms outer frame with vertical bars, weld mesh or steel plate forming the infill.

For weather protection the supporting construction is enclosed within the bottom rail whilst the supporting rollers with anti friction bearings are mounted in the adjustable support structure outside of the roadway. This cantilevered design is available in a single span up to 10 metres. Heights range from 1.6mus to 3 metres.

Tracked Gates:
Sliding gates of a similar construction are utilised when the gate is supported on a bottom rail, which is concreted into the roadway. The increased support allows single spans of upto 15 metres. Various types of infill can be incorporated including vertical bars, weld mesh or steel plate. For fully automatic installations heavy duly sliding gate drives with mechanical and
electro hydraulic designs are available complimented by a range of control options.
